Kit Dale Steps In as Late Replacement for CJI 2 Team Misfits Australasia Trials

Australian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu icon Kit Dale is set to make waves once again, stepping in as a late replacement for the highly anticipated Craig Jones Invitational 2 (CJI 2) Team Misfits Australasia trials. With just two weeks’ notice, Dale replaces top brown belt Josh Allsopp, bringing his wealth of experience and signature style to this elite event.

A Gruelling Two-Day Challenge Awaits

The CJI 2 Team Misfits Australasia trials, led by head coach Lachlan Giles, will take place over two intense days. The format is designed to test the mettle of every competitor:

  • Day One: Sixteen of the region’s top grapplers will face off in a pre-qualifier tournament, with only one earning a coveted spot in the next stage.

  • Day Two: The pre-qualifier winner will join five of Australasia’s best in a round-robin tournament. Only two athletes-one under 99kg and one over-will secure their place on the final team.

Dale’s path is anything but easy. On the opening day, he must win four consecutive matches against a field stacked with talent. Notable names include ADCC veteran Kenta Iwamoto and ADCC Trials medallists Anton Minenko and Tito Carle, all of whom are considered major threats.

A Return to Form for a BJJ Veteran

Should Dale advance to the second day, he will face an even tougher challenge. The round-robin stage features formidable opponents such as Declan Moody, Alibi Orazbek, Roberto Frias, Belal Etaibari and Kaya Rudolph. Each of these athletes brings a unique skill set, making the competition fierce and unpredictable.

Despite the daunting task, few are better prepared than Kit Dale. With a storied career on the international stage, Dale has competed against some of the world’s best. After taking time away from competition to pursue other ventures, he has already demonstrated his readiness with a successful return to the mats earlier this year.

Why This Matters for the BJJ Community

Kit Dale’s participation in the CJI 2 Team Misfits Australasia trials is more than just a comeback; it is a testament to perseverance, adaptability and the relentless pursuit of excellence. His journey resonates with grapplers across Australia and beyond, embodying the spirit that Continuous Flow BJJ celebrates-continuous improvement, resilience and passion for the art.

For fans and practitioners alike, Dale’s late entry adds excitement and unpredictability to the trials. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a newcomer inspired by stories of determination, this event is a reminder of what’s possible when preparation meets opportunity.
